WEEKDAY IN MILAN

In the morning of a new day we set out to explore the Milan city.

The hotel Residence Aramis Milano Downtown, in which we are staying is situated in the Navigli district.

This district is very quaint, an Italian concentrate. In the past Milan was interspersed with a web of channels, which supplied water and simultaneously served to travel the city. Marble and other building materials were transported along these channels to the main Milanese sanctuary – Milan Cathedral. Later the channels were earthed. In the Navigli district they remained. Unfortunately, there was almost no water when we were there. So, we won’t surprise you with photos of beautiful evening channels with light reflecting in them.

The city changed in the morning. Movement around us seemed to cease being so chaotic as it seemed in the evening.

Alt

A weekday dictates its rules. All Milanese hurry to get to work.

Alt

Most often they go by scooters, a huge quantity of them are parked along the walkways and the buildings. Needless to say, this kind of transport is very comfortable. All Milanese are for sure perfect drivers, showing the miracle of parking, squeezing their vehicles into the most unexpected places. Sometimes, there’s no enough space for a man to walk between two cars.

Alt

But the only thing better than scooter is a bike!

Alt

And high heels don’t get in the way of pedaling if latter is needed!

Alt

Milan is also called the city of “white collars”. It’s true; all around you are the office workers, elegantly and modestly clad.

Alt Alt

My God! What can you possibly think about if you have a boss like this!smiley

Alt

What we like the most in our trips is just walk the streets, “trying” on the city’s life. How are people living here? What do they see taking a walk? Or making their way to work?

This very sympathetic flower vendor, for instancesmiley

Alt

All these people have their regular busy day, as we all do, when we’re not traveling smiley :

Alt

delivery of products and groceries,

Alt

clients’ service,

Alt

order and security on the streets.

Alt

Somebody found a free minute to have a cup of coffee

Alt

or grab a slice of pizza in the nearest pizzeria (the smell won’t let you go by, anyways!).

Alt

Somebody has their work in advertising and promotion, smiley ,

Alt

and somebody is selling stuff  (like this Afro-Italian guy offers you bracelets made of varicolored threads – and you’ll be happy!),

Alt

somebody’s work is just stand in front of the metro,

Alt

and somebody’s said their “farewell” to stereotypes and the necessity to have a job…

Alt

And some people are still cramming

Alt

or skipping classes (?)

Alt

Milan is really very laborious. In the most beautiful tourist spots and along the usual streets the very prosaic and so understandable (to us) work is boiling.
And, amazingly, there’s also spring in Milan! Sun is warming everything and the magnolias are blooming!

Alt

And the atmosphere makes you wanna forget about work… And only think about love!

Alt

Here it is – Milan at work. About “Milan at rest” – in our next post!
